Mixed feeling about this book

I like this book. Plenty of examples, it helps to polish readers' sentence composing skill. Thin and light, it is not intimidating to look at. Different sections focusing various tools, from appositive to gerund phases - a collage of many methods - and I find it to my liking.Not an easy book for self study. It would like nice if I have someone proficient in the art of English language to consult with. English is my second language. My boyfriend is a native speaker but his (written English) is worse than mine.

Great for beating Writer's Block.

I bought this book plus other sentence-composing books, as I'd long suffered Writer's Block.Sentence-composing have much helped me to overcome Writer's Block. They had hugely helped me to brainstorm my thoughts before putting them onto papers. I am now thinking and writing more creatively than ever previously. in addition, I am now writing and typing non-stop, thanks to sentence-composing techniques.In the past, I used to always avoid writing essays in my schooldays because of my Writer's Block. I too avoided replying letters, emails, etc. Not anymore.I wish that sentence-composing techniques were taught in my school days.I think that this book makes an ideal gift for anyone affected by Writer's Block.Teachers, if your pupils suffer from Writer's Block, suggest that they should try sentence-composing exercise. Sentence-composing actually helps combat Writer's Block and encourage brainstorming. The pupils who chronically avoid writing essays/dissertations are likely the ones who most suffer from Writer's Block. That's the truth.

Riddled with past perfect errors

This text, like other texts by the same author, is riddled with past perfect errors in the examples given. If you want to identify them, look for the word 'had' and if it is in front of what is by its function a past tense verb, either regular or irregular, it is an example of misuse. Buyer beware. This applies only to the misuse of the past perfect form and not to the whole text.
