Catskill Craftsmen has become the nation's leading manufacturer of ready-to-assemble domestic hardwood kitchen islands, carts, and work-centers. Catskill Craftsmen manufactured items are made from naturally self-sustaining, non-endangered North American hardwoods, primarily Northern Yellow Birch. Lumber is purchased from area sawmills, then dried, manufactured, and packaged on site. All sawdust, shavings and waste materials generated during the manufacturing process is converted into wood pellet fuel, and used to heat homes. This dual drop leaf table has up to 36 inches of width when fully open, yet stores away with just a 10 inch wide footprint. Features swinging gate legs for complete stability, Northeastern Hardwood construction, and ships with an oil finish.

Very nice table, but......

Good points:Beautiful table folded or open, price, real wood, truly space saver.Bad points:Slightly difficult to assemble some parts, not overly sturdy since leafs rest on folding outcrops of legs, risers taller than tabletop, not same color as picture on Amazon, smells of finishing oil (Should go away after a few days).Nice table, but was looking for something a bit more sturdy. A huge step up from what I had as a table in my small apartment, but think it will stay my as a dining table for long. I foresee the leafs folding with a quick knock of the knee. It is beautifully finished wood, but as pointed out earlier a bit difficult to assemble with large fingers. One thing I didn't notice before I ordered it was the center risers stick up 1/2" over the top. Would have not ordered had I noticed this, but I will adapt.The holes for the nuts that hold pieces together are 3/4" and to line up the 8 nuts with the bolts it took some help from my teenage son who has small fingers. Was still a challenge. Finally put a dab of crazy glue on nut and glued it to my finger while he turned the bolt to get it to thread. Dropped one of the leafs because it was so smooth and slippery, but only bent a pin which straightened easily with a few taps of the hammer.Watch which hole you use which wood plug for. I did not notice there were 2 sizes until too late. If your planning on using it frequently, may want to glue up all the joints that are non articulating. If I get chance going to do this later.This would be a beautiful table to keep out and use in place of a card table for bigger dinners, but not something I think I will use daily as I bought it for.Not as reddish as the picture on Amazon, more natural oak colored and smells heavily of oil.I will probably follow my own advice and use it for an extra table space once I find another drop leaf to replace it.

Solid table for two

I bought this after an extensive physical and web search for a table to upgrade & replace TV tray tables. There is not a lot out there. The table was somewhat tricky to put together as some of the nuts (especially the four at the top) attach to the threaded bolts in holes that are no bigger than the tip of your finger. You have to do it almost blind as at that point you are working below the partially assembled unit. There is no reason the Catskill guys had to use threaded bolts here.... could've used wood screws as they did for the feet. But after a frustrating time it eventually was assembled. It is a very nice unit. Nice and sturdy. Maybe a bit heavy for some women or kids but has two nice handles for lifting and sets up in 15 seconds. Be warned it is table height not TV tray height. So when we sit at the couch our dinner plate is a bit high. It would be great to use with regular or folding chairs. Great for small NYC apartments were space is at a premium. It is basically unfinished and I am going to stain it a bit darker to match other wood in our room. I didn't give it a higher rating because of the assembly problem and the fact that it a bit over-priced at $175. That said I like it and use it a lot.

Fantastic product. Beautiful finish, *easy* assembly. Not sure why other reviews got so critical. Being a person who hates purchasing assembly required items, basically because I'm horrible at it, I put this together in no time, unassisted.It has mineral oil on it, yet no odor issues as mentioned in a previous review. I do wish I had the option to purchase it untreated, but the oil is fine.Two chairs and I've got a beautiful little dining area.
