Product Description
Catskill Craftsmen has become the nation's leading manufacturer of ready-to-assemble domestic hardwood kitchen islands, carts, and work-centers. Catskill Craftsmen manufactured items are made from naturally self-sustaining, non-endangered North American hardwoods, primarily Northern Yellow Birch. Lumber is purchased from area sawmills, then dried, manufactured, and packaged on site. All sawdust, shavings and waste materials generated during the manufacturing process is converted into wood pellet fuel, and used to heat homes. This classically designed table features a chrome towel bar/drawer pull, a large capacity drawer with full extension glides, two slatted shelves, leveler feet which help stabalize the unit, and a thick butcher block top which is safe for food preparation. A drop leaf adds 12 inches of table top space for the entire 46 inch width of the unit. This unit is constructed of solid Northeastern Hardwood and ships with an oil finish.

Received this Harvest Table with Drop Leaf as a gift when moving into our current home. This the kitchen is a odd shape and has a wide hallway between the main kitchen and the formal dinning room. The doors to the walk-in pantry/laundry room and the garage are in this area, but there is a area that this piece fits perfectly in. I use this to hold a small convection oven (when I have many for dinner and need extra oven space) on top there is also my mixer. On the lower shelves are several small electrical appliances that I use. I have not used the drop leaf, but it is nice to know that I have it should I need it. The unit does require oiling as it will and does start to dry out. All and all a wonderful addition for those who have the room.As to putting it together, it was fairly easy and required tools that one would normally have in a home. Only problem is that the piece is VERY heavy and it not easy to move alone.

We purchased this in December 2012 for our kitchen. We needed some extra counter space and this certainly fulfills that requirement. The wood is excellent quality. It's very spacious when the drop leaf is opened. You can even fit a bar stool under it for extra eating space. My only complaint is that it took an eternity to put it together. My husband and I worked on it for a little over three hours (and we're still married!) There are so many screws. I felt overwhelmed when I opened the box and saw the bag of parts. With that said, we are very happy with our purchase. I would certainly buy other products from Catskill.

We bought this for our kitchen in an older home for additional workspace and storage, and assembled it today. The quality and craftsmanship is very high, making the piece well worth the money. The piece is nice and heavy, and was perfectly stable as I cut up a squash for dinner tonight. The hardwood is very attractive and the natural look of the unstained, oiled finish looks good in the room. I should note that the unit's instructions suggest oiling the top surface monthly and the rest of the unit twice a year. We keep mineral oil on hand for cutting boards, so this shouldn't be a big deal for us. Some people may want to stain the piece to reduce this upkeep, and the instructions have information about doing so.Assembly was straightforward for the most part, although we did have to backtrack once to remove both shelves after we realized we had attached the "top back brace" piece upside down, preventing us from attaching the table top because the metal drop leaf supports attached to the underside of the top would not clear the back brace. The manual did not point this out and the illustration for attaching that piece was ambiguous. Also, the pictures of the pre-drilled holes in the instructions didn't always match up with reality, although it was easy enough to figure out. But this was not a major impediment and the assembly instructions were otherwise clear and effective. One person can do most of the assembly if they are reasonably strong, but the instructions correctly note that a second person is needed for attaching the shelves.Assuming the piece holds up well under use, I'd buy another product in this line without a second thought.
